Gracias Avocado

Fleshy and creamy. Envision a tree bearing fruit made of pleasant fresh infused butter. That's it, that's an avocado! Except it has nothing to do with butter (besides the creamy goodness texture)

Research shows that people who eat avocados tend to be generally healthier than those who don’t. Those who eat avocados on a daily basis also tend to have a lower body mass index than those who don’t, as well as a much higher nutrient intake.

Did you know these green fruits are packed with healthy nutrients?

  • They Contain More Potassium Than Bananas

  • Avocado is Loaded With Heart-Healthy Monounsaturated Fatty Acids

  • Avocados Are Loaded With Fiber

  • Eating Avocados Can Lower Cholesterol and Triglyceride Levels

They are also so versatile. You can put avocado on toast, in salads, make shakes with them, or use them in baking recipes. Yes, you can do almost anything with an avocado. Just make sure you’re eating a ripe avocado – otherwise you won’t enjoy the taste as much.

How to choose the right avocado? Ripe avocados should yield a gentle pressure when touched on their hard shell/skin, and the darker in color, the riper the avocado will be. A ripe avocado should be eaten within a day or two. They do not need to be stored in the refrigerator unless you open one and only eat half.

Make sure to squeeze some lemon on the other half you are storing in the refrigerator to keep that green avocado from browning. Cover with a gentle wrap and eat it the next day.
